Things that have made me laugh this past month

This past month has absolutely flown by. After Christmas, Evan and I helped organize the New Years Eve party for the whole centre, and the last few weeks we've been trying to entertain our 70+ girls who are off on school holidays right now. More than anything this past month, amidst some tears and sorrow, I am grateful for God's joy and laughter than brings strength for each day.

And on that note, here are the top things that have made me laugh this past month:

  1. One of my girls singing Feliz Navidad (“Merry Christmas”) at the end of January as if Christmas was coming again tomorrow!
  2. The toad who decided to invite himself into our house.
  3. Watching Evan reverse the car as fast as he could so that we did not get stampeded by storming elephants. It was funny after the fact and after our hearts stopped racing.
  4. Strength Competition: Over a month ago our tree was eaten by termites and came crashing down on our shed in the middle of the night. We hired some men to chop the fallen tree...the only problem, they cut it up and left it in four giant stumps almost impossible to move in our yard. Finally sick of staring at them, yesterday morning I stormed into the girls dorm and called all the middle and older girls for a competition of strength. They thought they were coming for an arm wrestling competition. When they arrived, I yelled, “There are four stumps, divide yourself into four teams, the first team to get a stump out of here gets first pick on a pack of cookies.” Needless to say, it was an event full of fun and laughter and I haven't sweat that much in a long time!
  5. This kid's bathing suit:
  6. This crazy funny little girl who sang Gloria in Exelces Deos unprompted on Christmas morning while flapping her wings like an angel. Video Clip also included in our Christmas video, if you haven't already seen it, don't forget to check it out:

And not featured in the video:

  1. Learning that sharks are trying to eat the internet and likely responsible for some of my poor internet connections. No really, sharks are trying to eat the underwater internet cables that lie across the ocean floor. If you don't believe me, look it up (after you finish reading this post of course!) Like shark dude, it's not food!
